Antelope Hunts

Private-Land Rifle Antelope Hunts

Rifle antelope hunts run from mid-October into early November and focus primarily on spot-and-stalk hunting. Low hunter density allows for strategic movement, clear visibility, and an
authentic plains-style experience.

Access is limited to maintain quality and minimize unnecessary pressure throughout the season.

Montana Antelope Draw Odds — HD 536-20

Hunt District 536-20 is a limited-entry Montana antelope permit that offers consistent opportunity compared to many pronghorn units statewide. Historically, tag quotas have been relatively strong, and draw odds have remained moderate year to year. Recent data shows resident applicants typically drawing with low to mid bonus points, while nonresident applicants face tighter odds due to Montana’s nonresident permit cap.

Across the past several seasons, resident draw success has generally fallen in the 40–50% range, depending on annual quotas and applicant numbers. Nonresident odds fluctuate more year to year but are primarily influenced by the statewide nonresident allocation rather than unit demand alone. Final quotas and odds are adjusted annually based on population surveys conducted by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

Applicants are encouraged to apply consistently and build bonus points, as odds can vary with weather conditions, winter survival, and overall pronghorn numbers. HD 536-20 remains a solid option for hunters seeking quality Montana antelope hunting without the extreme point creep seen in many western states.
